John Strickland owns Dry Creek Gardens, a nursery in Washoe Valley. Struggling with rising energy costs, John wanted to significantly reduce or eliminate his monthly electricity usage with renewable energy. Thanks to the US Department of Agriculture’s Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) and Washoe Valley’s strong winds, John is now producing his power with a 2.6 kW wind turbine and will get credit from the power company for his surplus production.

NV Energy and RES Americas have announced China Mountain, a 200 MW wind project in northeastern Nevada and Southern Idaho.

Spring Valley Wind LLC is proposing a 150 MW wind project about 30 miles east of Ely. On December 16, 2009 BLM issed a press release seeking public comment on the project.
A copy of the Spring Valley Wind Draft Environmental Assessment has been published. Project maps can be found here.
January 15, 2010 BLM announced the project was on the agency's fast-track list.

Searchlight Wind Energy LLC (Duke Energy) is proposing a 370 MW wind project near Searchlight. The project was noticed in the Federal Register on December 16, 2008.
In June, 2009 BLM issued a project update. BLM published the project's Scoping Summary Report in April of that year. January 15, 2010 BLM announced the project was on the agency's fast-track list.

On November 26, 2008 the Federal Register published a notice of Intent To Prepare and Environmental Impact Statement for Great Basin Wind's 192 MW New Comstock Wind Energy Project in northern Nevada. A shor time later BLM published a Project Description.
